St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School has a rich tradition of music making. In recent years the reputation of our students has allowed them the privilege of performing to numerous head’s of state, key members of Parliament and peers, as well as a variety of famous sporting and popular stars. Some of these include: HM Queen Elizabeth II; The Right Honourable Tony Blair (former Prime Minister); The Right Honourable Gordon Brown (former Prime Minister); His Grace, Rev Dr Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury); President Nelson Mandela; The Right Honourable, David Cameron (Prime Minister); The Right Honourable Boris Johnson (Mayor of London); The Right Honourable Michael Gove (Secretary of State); Dame Kelly Holmes DBE; and Miss Joanna Lumley OBE.
Moreover; students have performed at some of the best venues in the country, including: Southwark Cathedral; The Royal Festival Hall; The Barbican Concert Halls; The Queen Elizabeth Hall; Symphony Hall, Birmingham; HM’s House of Lord’s; Central Hall Westminster; The Globe Theatre; The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre; and The Scoop Amphitheatre. Some of these performances have included collaborations with internationally renowned musicians, such as the series of summer 2009 concerts where the choristers sang two works (one of which featured an operatic solo by a sixth form vocalist), accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and directed by their Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski.
